The Rundown
Our Top PicksBest Overall: Logitech’s MX Master 2S
4.3
Widely regarded as the best mouse available, Logitech’s MX Master 2S is the class leader for overall performance. Compatible with Logitech’s Flow technology, the Master 2S connects with multiple devices seamlessly (and even includes a copy-paste function between different computers). Alongside Flow technology, the Logitech adds support for dual connectivity, allowing up to three Windows or Mac computers to connect via the unifying receiver or through Bluetooth technology, which eliminates the need for any additional hardware on a desktop.
The track virtually anywhere feature adds support for the Master 2S to work on any surface (even glass). The re-chargeable battery lasts up to 70 days on a single charge and the design was engineered not only with performance in mind, but also ergonomics for a comfort that’s sculpted to conform to the shape of a hand for a naturally comfortable position.
Best Anywhere Mouse: Logitech MX Anywhere 2S Wireless Mouse
Logitech’s Anywhere Mouse “works everywhere you do,” from office desks and kitchen islands to coffee shop tables and airplane tray tables. It can also navigate seamlessly between up to three computer screens, copying and pasting text and images from one screen to the next. It boasts a 4000 DPI laser sensor that gives you smooth tracking on almost any surface, including glass.
The mouse’s design is crafted for comfort and productivity, featuring hyper scrolling and customizable buttons via the Logitech Options Software. But what good is a wireless mouse without a reliable battery? The MX Anywhere 2S holds a charge for up to 70 days and can be topped up with a full day’s charge in just four minutes via microUSB.
Best Apple Mouse: Magic Mouse 2
Designed solely for Apple’s computer line, the Magic Mouse 2 is a typical Apple design that skips on buttons and scroll wheels and opts for a multi-touch surface instead. Swiping between Web pages or scrolling through documents requires nothing more than the brush of a finger with minimal desk resistance, thanks to an optimized foot design. The built-in battery lasts around 30 days before requiring a recharge through the included Lightning-to-USB cable (it'll fullly charge in nine hours). Apple’s inclusion of multi-touch gestures such as swiping, scrolling and zooming are all a refreshing way to use the mouse. Weighing just 7.2-ounces, Apple’s unique take on the mouse offers a love-it-or-hate-it approach but if you love it, its feature-set is hard to resist.
Best Comfort: Logitech M570
Logitech’s M570 wireless trackball mouse might not be the most eye-catching of the bunch, but its sculpted shape helps support and keep your hand in one place. The trackball bears all the workload weight with smooth, precise cursor control whether you’re working on your desk or any other room in the home or office. With battery life good for up to 18 months on one included AA battery, the 2.4GHz wireless connection works up to 30 feet away on both Windows and Mac operating systems. With a bevy of buttons and a unique design, there’s plenty of reason to think this mouse represents a new whole way of working online.
Best Gaming Mouse: Logitech G602
There’s no shortage of competition in the gaming wireless mouse space, so standing out from the pack requires an impressive set of features. Fortunately, Logitech’s G602 delivers with more than 250 hours of battery life and a shelf life rated at more than 20 million clicks. In fact, Logitech delivers a two-millisecond response rate alongside Delta Zero sensor technology. This gaming mouse offers both an ultra-durable build that can stand up to even the most intense gaming experience. Add in 11 programmable buttons and support for Windows and Mac operating systems and you’ll find a gaming-friendly mouse that won’t break the bank. Logitech claims a lag-free gaming-grade experience and the online reviews deliver with a 4.3 out of 5-star Amazon rating.

Best Budget: VicTsing 2.4G
With technology that maximizes battery life for longer performance, the VicTsing 2.4G wireless mobile mouse is a great choice at a truly budget-friendly price. With five adjustable CPIs to help your ideal scroll speed, the 2.4GHz wireless technology has a 50-foot range before dropping signal. Aside from wireless performance, the VicTsing’s ergonomic shape and build were designed to be both sweat-resistant and skin-friendly for all-day comfort and support.
A rest position for your little finger adds extra support not often found on mice that are quadruple the price. Compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux, the VicTsing maximizes battery life with energy-saving features (shuts down after eight minutes of no use), which allows it to last up to 15 months on a single AA battery.
Best Design: Logitech M510 Wireless Mouse
Ergonomically, a well-designed mouse provides comfort and efficiency over long periods of use. That’s why we love the Logitech M510 so much. The mouse is contoured comfortably to support your hand and wrist and there are rubber grips on the side for your thumb and pinky. Unfortunately, the two buttons on the left side limit its users to righties only.
As for productivity, you can customize shortcut tasks for all of its buttons to make it easier to do tasks such as switch applications, open windows and tabs or jump to full screen. The laser tracks smoothly across every surface (barring mirrored ones like glass) and Logitech claims the battery lasts up to two years with daily use. If you’re a power user, you’ll be pleased to know that Logitech’s Unifying receiver plugs in via USB and connects to up to six devices, including keyboards, to free up previous ports.
Best Battery Life: Logitech Marathon Mouse M705
Logitech’s Marathon Mouse M705 is appropriately named with battery life (powered by one AA battery) that can last up to three years. The M705 is so power efficient that it can vastly outlast most wireless mouse options on the market by 2x the total battery life. Fortunately, battery life isn’t all the M705 does well. It has an ergonomic design with a sculpted shape that fits your hand naturally. Advanced tracking offers an ultra-responsive and accurate cursor control while working on various surfaces without skipping a beat. The three integrated thumb buttons offer quick and easy multitasking with quick swapping between applications. With an easy-to-swallow price tag and battery life that can last longer than your computer, there’s plenty of reason to give the M705 a look.

Tested byHow We Tested
Our reviewers spent 120 hours testing a top-rated wireless mouse. To get the most comprehensive results possible, they connected it to their computers and used it for hours at a time. We asked our testers to consider the most important features when using this wireless mouse, from connectivity to comfort. We've outlined them here so that you, too, know what to look for when shopping.
What to Look for in a Wireless Mouse
PC vs. Mac compatibility - It’s easier to find mice that work with Windows and Mac operating systems than it is to find keyboards that do both. Still, it’s important to make sure the wireless mouse you choose is compatible with your system. If you’re using a Windows-oriented mouse with a Mac, consider remapping its buttons to make it easier to use.
Bluetooth vs. USB - There are advantages to both Bluetooth and USB mice. Bluetooth mice are truly portable. They connect to a receiver in your computer, so there’s no dongle required. On the other hand, Bluetooth mice can sometimes have more performance and connection issues than their USB counterparts.
Portability - If you want a mouse that you can take on the road, it’s important to consider whether you want a full-size mouse or a smaller one. However, portable mice usually aren't ergonomic — they may cause more strain than the full-size versions that are designed to fit your hand.

What We Like
What We Don't LikeMicrosoft Wireless Mouse Battery Size
“This is the most comfortable, useful, and good-looking mouse I’ve ever used,” raved one of our testers. Our reviewers also loved its customization features, with one reporting that “the customizable buttons saved me seconds [at a time] which added up to saving me time overall.” One downside, though, was that its setup was complex, according to one tester: “I didn't understand how to set it up and the instructions provided were not very helpful,” she said. One of our reviewers also thought it was a little pricey — but ultimately, still a great buy. “I think, at first, I’d be hesitant to buy it given its price point,” she said, “but it’s absolutely worth it.”
BestRechargeable Mice for Windows PCsWindows Central2019
Nothing is worse than having your wireless mouse die when you need it most, only to realize you're out of fresh batteries. If you use a rechargeable mouse with a built-in battery, though, you can just plug it in and charge away. Wireless rechargeable mice are also more eco-friendly and convenient. We believe you'll never go back to a mouse that needs external batteries once you find a great rechargeable one. These are our picks for the best available.
Surface style and versatility: Microsoft Surface Precision MouseEditor's pick
The Surface Precision Mouse is not-only rechargeable via micro-USB thanks to its Lithium-ion battery, which lasts up to three months on a single charge, it's packed with valuable features. It connects simultaneously via Bluetooth to up three different devices, its magnetic scrolling feature delivers precision that lives up to the mouse's name, and it has three customizable buttons that let you easily perform your most common tasks. Powered-up gaming: Razer Lancehead Mouse
Razer's Lancehead is our favorite wireless, rechargeable gaming mouse. It's designed to reduce in-game data lag between it and your PC for a seamless wireless-gaming experience. It has mechanical mouse switches and an ambidextrous design, so it's south-paw friendly. With a 16,000-DPI sensor and hyper-fast acceleration, this mouse is PRECISE. And it utilizes the company's Synapse software to sync and save your settings. Battery life isn't exactly great, at just about one day, so you'll need to charge often, but it comes with and a Micro-USB cord for charging and a USB wireless dongle. Oh, and it supports 16.8 million customizable Chroma light options, of course.

Charge without wires: Logitech G903 Mouse
The G903 mouse can charge wirelessly while you game, using the Powerplay mouse pad (sold separately for about $100). It also charges via the included micro USB cable and connects via USB dongle and has customizable RGB lighting. Battery life isn't exceptional, and it gets about a day's worth of life on a charge (more if you don't use RGB lighting), but using the mat can alleviate all battery concerns. It's also quite light at just 110 grams, though an included weight can be added to give it a heavier feel. Tracking is accurate and responsive. The top and side buttons and scroll wheel are all exceptional, and the mouse itself is ambidextrous and ergonomically designed.

Ergonomic and affordable: Lekvey Rechargeable Vertical Mouse
Vertical mice are designed to be more ergonomic and position your wrist and hand in a way that reduces strain. If you use a mouse for long periods at a time, or if you're experiencing symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome, a vertical mouse like Lekvey's Rechargeable Vertical Mouse could help. It plugs in via a USB dongle, which can be stowed in the bottom of the device, so it does not use Bluetooth. Its feature set is basic, but you can adjust the mouse sensitivity up to 1,600 DPI.

If we're making some suggestions
Rechargeable mice have advantages over their non-rechargeable counterparts, including the facts that they're more eco-friendly and don't require that you buy (and then discard batteries) every time you run out. They can save you money on batteries, and as long as you remember to charge them up regularly, they can be more convenient, too.
We appreciate and vouch for every mouse featured in this collection. You won't be disappointed with any of them. But if we had to pick just one to recommend, it would be the Surface Precision Mouse because it's packed with valuable features, the battery lasts a long time, and we're just big fans of the Surface look and feel. However, if you're looking for a wireless rechargeable travel mouse, you'll love the MX Anywhere 2S from Logitech. And if it's a gaming mouse you need, you'll surely find a friend in Razer's Lancehead mouse.

Small but precise. A great, smaller travel mouse.7/16/2017 3:07:44 PM
Pros: Highest quality mouse. Has a side clicker for going backwards in web pages.
Cons: Too small for my tastes.
Microsoft Wireless Mouse 3500 Manual
Ownership: more than 1 year
Good travel mouse for someone with small hands *updated5/6/2016 12:47:32 PM
Pros: Works on every surface I tried it on (regular mouse pad, the couch, my pants, shiny coffee table, glossy finish table at Panera bread). Enough range and sensitivity to play games from my HTPC 6 feet away (using a stiff-back mousepad sitting on the couch itself)
Cons: Some others here have stated battery life issues, I haven't had it long enough to notice this, I am still using the battery it came with and I bought it about a month ago. Not quite daily usage, though, so YMMV
Overall Review: Bought this to replace the mini-optical wireless mouse I had been using for years that was plagued by extremely short range. The last straw for me was it wouldn't work on the glossy table surface at Panera bread. The bluetrack tech in the WMM4000 works.
Update 5/6/2016: I am on my second of these now (the first died out of warranty with a common issue - the 'nano transceiver' overheats and kills itself, MS support says they are uniquely paired to each mouse, so have to replace the mouse and transceiver as a pair. The replacement mouse I purchased still tracks very well, BUT an additional issue has cropped up that the rubber on the mouse wheel is coming apart and has a visible seam, which protrudes and gets hung up sometimes when scrolling. Based on the first mouse dying and the second mouse having a wheel defect shortly into its life, I have adjusted my original review from 5 eggs to 3. When this one dies, I will not get another, if I can find something better.
Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
I want to give it a 5, but ...2/21/2016 9:17:01 PM
Pros: I like the idea of having a cordless mouse on the desk as well as making it easy to take with the laptop. I used Eneloop rechargeable Ni-MH batteries
Cons: I wanted to give it a 5, but noticed the rubber on the wheel fell apart within 6 months. It should not happen. First time I've seen this at all on wheel mouse in over 20 years.
Overall Review: Could be a bad lot?
Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
I love this mouse, for the most part8/23/2015 12:40:10 PM
Pros: Works on most surfaces. Batteries life seems ok to me. I turn off the power switch when I'm not at my computer. The magnify feature is one of the main reasons I buy / like / use these mice.
Microsoft Wireless Mouse Battery Change
Cons: Rubber on scroll wheel can disintegrate after awhile. Tried storing transceiver in mouse once and needed a pliers to remove it.
I'm having a problem with Intellipoint software not recognizing the v1 nano transceiver on this mouse and my 3500 mobile mouse also, so no button customization is possible for me on WinXP.
Overall Review: My 4000 mouse with the v2 transceiver works fine with Intellipoint, but the v1 one does not, and I haven't found a solution. Very disappointing MS software / hardware won't even work together. Since I'm running this on WinXP, I doubt MS support would help me with this problem. I've read some have had luck getting a new transceiver though.
Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: Small size, intelligent storage of USB dongle, on/off switch saves on battery life, light but feels well built.
Cons: It's not free!
Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: got this mouse as a christmas present eons ago, is really good, i used ot to play games before i got my g502, do buy this mouse,
Cons: none
Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Awesome product! Very quick and precise!
Cons: No cons. Perfect product.
Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: Fits nicely in my hand, lightwieght, but not a cheap feel.
Cons: Did not realize it was on until after I put the battery in, then I couldn't see to turn it off as the light from the mouse blinded me for a few seconds.
Overall Review: Fast shipping. Does the job well. I would buy another.

How do I change the batteries in my Logitech M215 wireless mouse? I have lost the instructions and it has a blinking red light.
PatPat
1 Answer
In this youtube video it is shown how you can reach the battery.
The video shows that on the bottom back side of the Logitech M215 there is a 'release' button. When you press it in deeply (don't go crazy with it), the back cover will pop up. You can now lift off the back cover, and the tip of a single battery will be revealed. You should be able to pull the battery out, and place a charged battery back.
Please be advised not all batteries can be recharged. Often if not always, it is written on the battery if you can or cannot recharge it. Do not try to recharge a battery that is not chargeable, in the worst (not too likely) case the battery can light on fire or explode. If a battery is chargeable, also be advised that not all batteries can be charged in the same manner. You battery charger needs to be compatible with the type of battery. Some chargers have a switch on them, so you can select the type of battery you wish to charge.
Of course you can always simply replace the battery with a new one.

You can reduce the clutter and tangle of wires on your desk with a wireless mouse. The Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 3000 is a medium-sized optical mouse, meaning it uses a laser to detect motion rather than a trackball. Optical mice have greater precision than trackball mice and can be used on a greater variety of surfaces. You won't need to install any software to use your mouse, because it is a plug-and-play device.
Step 1
Press the button on the back of the mouse to release the battery cover. Remove the battery cover. Insert the AA battery with the positive end facing you. Replace the battery cover. A red indicator light means that it is time to change the battery.
Step 2
Remove the wireless receiver from the bottom the mouse. Insert it into an available USB port on your computer.
Step 3
Keep the mouse within three feet of the computer. Metal obstacles between the mouse and the receiver may prevent the signal from reaching the computer. Use a mouse pad when working on a glass surface or any other surface on which the mouse has difficulty tracking movement.
Step 4
Press the left button for normal clicking and double-clicking and the right button for program-specific features. Roll the scroll wheel to move up and down within a document. Click the scroll wheel, sometimes referred to as 'middle clicking,' for other program-specific features
Step 5
Press the 'Connect' button on the side of the receiver and then the 'Connect' button on the bottom of the mouse to restore the connection if you experience connection difficulties.
Remove the receiver from the computer and snap back into the bottom of the mouse when the computer is not in use. This will turn off the mouse and save its battery life.
